It helps to jump straight into planning with a clear outline of project scope, team setup, and task breakdowns. No more guesswork or endless back-and-forths! I work for a software development company, and the project estimates process is part of our daily life. Customers come to see what it would take to build the idea, but it always takes days and weeks to hand-make the estimates. The experiments with GPTs led to building the custom GPT with some of those hand-made estimates we’ve done over the last five years as training data. How It Works A regular ChatGPT UI. Simply feed your PRD into EstimatePRD and watch as it dissects your document, identifying key project components, user flows, and requirements. Then, it translates this analysis into a detailed estimation of the effort, time, and costs involved, giving you a solid foundation for your project planning. No PRD? No problem. EstimatePRD will help you outline your project assumptions even if you have just a one-liner idea description. It does a great job estimating custom software work for startup ideas, new product launches, and internal tooling. The tool has been tested on software products in the following categories: saas, web apps, APIs, mobile apps, CRMs/ERPs, and internal apps (e.g. custom API layer, usage mediation software). Most tech assumptions were: Python, Go, Ruby, React, Flutter, and AWS, and should work fine with most of the modern tech stack and domains. Hallucinations: EstimatePRD is built on GPTs and occasionally hallucinates. Be sure to double-check important details. It misses the target estimates occasionally and indicates issues in analyzing the knowledge base. Accuracy: It is surely not as accurate as hand-made. There is a potential to improve it over time, but this version is far from ideal and mainly intends to give assumptions on the project estimates and some actionable insights.
