Engram - A reader that keeps what you read in your own GitHub

by•
Engram is a web reader for articles, PDFs, posts, links, quotes and your own notes. Select a passage and a small language model running in your browser answers in a note beside it: explain it, define it, simplify it, or argue the other side. Nothing you read is sent to an AI service. Everything you save is a Markdown file. Each folder syncs to a private GitHub repository in your own account, so your library is on every device and stays readable without Engram.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Vedant. I read a lot of articles and PDFs, and I kept losing the thread on hard passages. Engram is the reader I wanted.

Select a sentence you don't follow and ask for an explanation, a definition, a simpler version, or the other side of the argument. The answer shows up as a note beside the text. A small model runs in your browser, so the passage never leaves your device. It's about 2 GB and downloads once.

Everything you save is Markdown in a private GitHub repo you own. You can read it without Engram if you ever need to.

It's open source under AGPL-3.0. I'd like to hear how you read, and what would make Engram worth opening every day.
