I’ve been teaching general and exam English for three decades. Over those 30 years, my goal was always the same: to give my students the freedom to get as much extra writing and speaking practice as they wanted, without being limited by our classroom hours alone. Before the AI era, providing that level of continuous, high-quality feedback was virtually impossible. Today, however, a thoroughly calibrated AI evaluation engine can be just as reliable as human examiners. While there are a handful of decent automated tools out there for IELTS, the Cambridge suite is a completely different story. It is incredibly difficult to find high-quality services that offer both writing AND speaking evaluation for Cambridge exams. I built EnglishExams to bridge this exact gap. While EnglishExams is a commercial platform, I want users to be able to test both engines risk-free. When you register, you’ll immediately get 20 credits, plus up to 80 more credits each day you log in to keep your daily study streak going. Initially, my focus was purely on the underlying evaluation logic, ensuring the AI feedback matched real examiner standards. But as development progressed, I realised that a great engine is useless if the platform is clunky. I invested in a robust, high-performance backend so that your secure, personalized dashboard loads instantly and delivers detailed feedback in seconds.

Love the focus on real exam criteria instead of generic grammar fixes. One thing that would help me a lot: a per-criterion breakdown showing exactly which band descriptor I lost points on, with example rewrites or a model answer I can compare against. That kind of side-by-side feedback would make the progress tracking feel way more actionable.

Currently, this kind of feedback is already provided by the engine (as you can see in the screenshots below, we break everything down by criteria - complete with individual band scores, targeted strengths/weaknesses, and exact 'key corrections' for grammar and vocabulary!).

However, the idea of showing side-by-side model rewrites is a brilliant way to make the feedback even more valuable. I'm planning to actively work on UI updates to display these deeper diagnostic breakdowns and comparative model answers in the personal dashboard.

Thank you so much for the constructive input - this is exactly the kind of feedback that helps make the platform better!
