English Placement Suite - Adaptive CEFR testing that measures cognitive load

by
Traditional tests measure accuracy, but ignore effort. This suite measures automaticity. Using a vanilla JS adaptive engine and Log-Likelihood Ratios (LLR), it navigates 24 CEFR sub-levels in real-time. By analyzing response latency, it identifies a "Cognitive Ceiling"—the point where mental effort peaks even if answers remain correct. Features: • Adaptive A1–C2.2+ ladder • Distinguishes lucky guesses from mastery • Open-source & privacy-first

Hi Product Hunt! I’m the maker behind the English Placement Suite. As an ESL educator, I’ve always found traditional placement tests a bit... one-dimensional. They tell you if a student is 'right,' but they don't tell you how hard the student's brain had to work to get there. I built this tool to bridge the 'Automaticity Gap.' By measuring cognitive load and response stability, it helps teachers see exactly where a student’s fluency starts to break down—not just where their grammar knowledge ends. It’s completely open-source and free to use. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the adaptive logic and the pedagogical report!
