Launched Edyt today, AI for selected text in any app

It's a Mac and Windows app (Linux will come). You select text anywhere, press a shortcut, pick rewrite or explain or one of your own prompts, and the result replaces the selection. If the text can't be selected, like a PDF or a screenshot, you hold Option or Alt and drag over it instead.

Most AI tools come with a boundary: their own window, the browser only, one app, or one operating system. Step outside it and you're back to copying text into a chat and pasting the answer back. That's what I wanted to get rid of.

One thing I keep going back and forth on. Right now a prompt only sees the text you selected. I could let prompts call MCP servers, so you select a customer name and a prompt pulls their last three tickets, or select a sentence in a spec and it checks it against your Linear issues.

I'm not sure people would set that up for a text tool. If you already run MCP servers for something, what would you point a selected-text prompt at?
