During that time, life kept moving. My mom survived cancer, went through years of dialysis, and a kidney transplant. My dad had a stroke. Today, they’re both in their 80s. And then it hit me. How many more moments do we really have left together? How many chances will my daughters have to truly know them — to understand where they come from… and where I come from?
