Why we built DropSpher

1- We kept seeing the same problem:

Simple file tasks shouldn’t require uploading your files to another website, creating an account, paying a subscription, or dealing with a dozen different tools.

So we started building something different.

2 - Need to convert an image?

Compress a PDF?

Merge files?

Convert a video?

Extract pages?

Resize an image?

Convert JSON or encode a file?

There are countless websites for each individual task.

But switching between them gets frustrating.

3- The bigger problem was privacy.

For many people, files aren't just files.

They can contain invoices, contracts, business documents, personal photos, source code, client information, and other sensitive data.

We didn't want the solution to be:

"Upload your file to our server and trust us."

4- That's why we built DropSpher around one simple idea:

Your files should stay on your computer.

The processing happens locally.

No cloud upload.

No account required.

No subscription just to perform basic file operations.

5- We also wanted it to feel like a toolbox rather than a collection of websites.

One application.

Multiple file utilities.

A simple interface.

Drop a file → choose what you want to do → get the result.

6- We're developers ourselves, so we know how often you need a tiny utility that shouldn't require installing five different programs.

That's the experience we wanted to create:

Open DropSpher. Do the task. Close it.

7- We're launching DropSpher on Product Hunt today.

It's still evolving, and we're building based on what people actually need.
