DoomSaver - Your Doomscrolling has a witness

by•
Doom Saver helps you cut back on doomscrolling without quitting social media. A live timer sits on top of the apps you choose, so you always know how long you've been scrolling. Add the tasks you keep meaning to do like reading a book or call back mum, and it reminds you of them while you're in the apps. Stats show your time, opens and busiest hours by app, so you can see where your evenings go. It never sees your screen, and your usage stays on your phone. Free on Android.

Hey Product Hunt, I'm Samina, and I made Doom Saver. For the past few years I kept losing my evenings and late nights to doomscrolling. It felt good while I was doing it and left me guilty afterwards. Those were hours I could have spent reading the book I keep meaning to start, going for a walk, or finally learning to drive. I tried everything: deleting social apps, app timers, blockers. None of it stuck, because it was always all or nothing. Either I was locked out, or I switched the blocker off. So I built something in between. You keep your apps. Doom Saver just holds up a mirror while you use them. A small knight called Grim sits on top of the apps you choose with a live timer, and the longer you stay, the worse he looks. It also reminds you of the things you said you wanted to do. Add them to your task list and Grim brings them up while you scroll. Tap a reminder and it opens the task. The goal isn't to stop using social media. It's to keep your free will, and to choose the things you enjoy too. A few things I cared about: • It never sees your screen. It only knows which app is open and for how long. • Your time, tasks and photo stay on your phone. • The core app is free, stats included. Pro adds unlimited tasks, your own messages and your photo on the mascot. It's Android only for now. I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks!
