After building 30 GTM integrations, what we learned about 'connected' and what it actually means

When we started building dolv, the integration count felt like the obvious thing to optimize for.

More integrations meant more value. Or so we thought.

What we actually learned:

Most integrations in the GTM space are read-only. They pull data for display. They do not write back. So the AI can see your analytics but cannot act on what it sees. You still have to do the execution yourself.

The distinction between a read integration and a read-and-write integration is not a footnote. It is the entire difference between a tool that reports and a tool that executes.

We rebuilt every one of dolv's 30 integrations to support both directions. Slow process. Completely worth it. Because the product promise changes entirely when the AI can act, not just inform.
