DockDuck 1.1.5 is out 🎉

This release is about giving you more than two folders at once, and about folders that keep themselves tidy.

Up to six panes in one window

Split a window into one to six panes, each with its own folder, its own view mode and its own terminal if you use that. Pick the arrangement from the toolbar, or press Control Command and the number of panes you want.

Four opens as a 2 by 2 square, which suits a laptop far better than four narrow columns, and you can drag files straight from one pane to another.

Folders that keep themselves tidy

Organize This Folder now has two sides. Now sorts what is there, the way it always did. Always holds the folder's rules, something like "images older than 30 days go to Archive", and DockDuck applies them on its own when the folder changes or when you open it.

You always see a preview of what will move before anything moves, and the whole pass undoes with a single Undo. If you just tidied a folder by hand, "Keep it this way" turns what you did into rules. Settings, Behavior lists every rule you have, and they never run on cloud or server folders.

Cloud services just appear

Sync, Dropbox and anything else that registers with Finder now shows up in the Cloud section next to iCloud Drive, with nothing to set up. Settings, Clouds lists every supported service, with the ones you have installed ready to switch on.

Cloud only files stopped being a trap, too. Right clicking or previewing one no longer freezes the app while the whole file downloads, and a file's badge fills while any other app is downloading it, not only when you start it from here.

Folder sizes, when you ask for them

Turn on Calculate folder sizes in Settings, General and folders show their real size, worked out in the background and kept up to date. It stays off by default so browsing is instant.

There is also a Large files button that appears only in folders that actually hold something over 100 MB. It lists those files, subfolders included, biggest first, which is usually the real question behind wanting folder sizes.

A sidebar that is already yours

Your Finder favorites are brought over the first time you open DockDuck, and folders you add to Finder later show up too. From then on the list is DockDuck's own: remove one here and it stays removed.

You can drag a folder onto Favorites to pin it, drop files onto a favorite folder to file them inside it, and drop between two favorites to place one exactly where you want it. The sidebar follows your accent color and your Sidebar icon size from System Settings now, instead of insisting on its own.

Smaller things you will notice

- Going back returns you to where you were. Same scroll position, with the folder you came from selected and ready for the arrow keys, instead of jumping to the top of a long list.

- Arrow keys in the list view. Right opens the selected folder, left goes up a level, exactly like the column view.

- A progress bar on the Dock icon while files copy, the way Finder does it.

- Transfers live in a small island at the bottom of the window instead of a separate floating window. Tap it for everything in flight, what finished, and a retry for anything that failed. When a file already exists it asks Skip, Keep Both or Replace right there.

- Tighter list rows with slightly larger text, so more files fit without reading smaller.

Fixed

- Deleting inside Sync and similar cloud folders works. Some cloud folders have no Trash, so the move failed with an error. DockDuck offers to delete immediately instead, the way Finder does.

- Get Info opens where you can see it on macOS 15, and remembers where you left it.

- The Dock icon is the right size on macOS 15, instead of looking bigger than everything next to it.

- Spring loaded folders respect your Accessibility setting, including the delay.

- Submenus line up with their row, whichever direction you come from.
