What we learned building an AI agent inside a communication app

We’ve been exploring a simple question at Dirextalk:
What becomes possible when an AI agent can work with your conversations—with your permission—instead of waiting for you to copy and paste context into another tool?
Our latest update focuses on three workflows:
Recovering context from selected chats, groups, and files
Turning conversations into summaries, follow-ups, and scheduled tasks
Researching information and delivering the results back into a conversation
We also added support for working with project files, personal knowledge, and selected external tools.
The biggest lesson so far: adding more capabilities is the easy part. Making permissions clear, deployment manageable, and every action understandable is much harder.
Dirextalk is still early. Some features require a personal node, external services, or the user’s own AWS account, so we’re actively working on reducing the setup burden.
For people who work across multiple chats and channels:
What is the first communication task you would trust an AI agent to automate—and what should always require your confirmation?
