@uebmaster Everyone's a noob at some point! We actually make a point to user-test our platform with very non-technical people so we can make sure it's as intuitive as possible. Did anything in your Directus journey feel a bit complex or hard to understand at first glance? Our goal is to make things so simple that our users don't even need Docs... though obviously we'll always have them. 😜

@directus @hashtag19 That's awesome! I was on a call with a company last week that had over 20 different systems that Directus was able to replace. It's crazy to think how many platforms some people need to integrate to get a solid data foundation. There's always room for multiple tools, and we're not trying to solve every problem out there, but it's really powerful to have a single-source-of-truth for your project's data... and then connect/integrate specialty services from there. 🔌 Would love to hear more about your use-case!

@yage_ Love to hear this. We actually built the Directus platform back in 2004 as part of our digital agency to solve similar problems with off-the-shelf and bespoke solutions. It's amazing to see that users are still seeing the same benefits nearly two decades later... and that the concept is still stronger than ever! 💪

@anna_voronina148 Oh, great question! Usually I only get asked this when talking to VCs! Back in 2004, my agency was building pretty innovative digital experiences (websites, installations, kiosks, apps, etc) for large, industry-leading brands. Traditional CMS we just not flexible enough, and building bespoke solutions for each project was untenable long-term. Looking at our build workflow, we found that we always started dev by building a well-architected SQL database, with a data model purpose built for the project's exact needs. Our engineers did this with Database Administration Tools (eg: Sequel Pro, PHPmyAdmin, etc)... which was the perfect "window" into managing the database. However, this software was highly technical, and clicking the wrong button could truncate (delete) everything in an instant. I had the idea of essentially recreating phpMyAdmin as a customer-facing webapp that would be simple, safe, and intuitive enough for handing off to our non-technical end users (in lieu of a CMS). Then, we could just design the project database, and instantly have a tailored "CMS" for authoring and managing anything inside. This was about 10 years before the term "Headless CMS", so a decade later, we were first on the scene. Fast-forward another six years, and we learned that many users were using Directus to power other types of data-driven projects... so we "re-positioned" (which I prefer to "pivoted") to an "Open Data Platform" with Headless Content Management as a primary use-case. This broader focus on Data (instead of just content) has led to some extremely interesting and powerful features. Now, with over 10M installs, our users are still powering amazing digital experiences, but also gathering data from IoT devices, creating no-code back-office apps, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's been a wild ride!! 🎢
