devchat - Live, online-only chat right in VSCode

devchat is bringing back AIM for the modern era; a Bloomberg terminal for developers. It's built as a VSCode extension, so you can chat with dev friends right in your sidebar. Prompt your AI agent then get the hot goss from your buddies while it works, all right in the IDE. Messages can only be sent while you're both online, and are ephemeral: never stored on a server, and cleared locally after a day! Grab a username, tell your friends, find them on devchat and enjoy!

I miss the AIM days: getting home, firing up the computer, waiting for my friends to go online too so we could say "sup, nm u, nm jc" to each other. Messaging today is all async and mobile now, so this feeling is hard to get. Also, "chat" means AI prompting half the time nowadays, not talking to people. So, tag two birds with one stone: get the live, online experience from AIM and actually chat with real people. So give it a go! If you install it and wanna reach out, my username is molo. Thanks!
