Repose is a desktop-first eReader built for deep, comfortable reading. Unlike many existing options, it focuses on a modern, distraction-free reading experience similar to mobile readers, while staying local-first and lightweight. Features includes multiple reading modes, full typography controls, notes and highlights, inline definitions, DeepL translation, offline and downloadable TTS voices, and powerful library organisation for your own EPUB collection.

I mainly read on my phone. A year and a half ago, I started reading on my laptop too, but I struggled to find an app that gave me the same reading experience as what you get on mobile apps. There’s a lot of great options but I couldn’t find something that scratched my itch exactly - a balance of clean intuitive UI and functionality. So I made one. My main goal was to make a clean, friendly interface that makes reading as comfortable as it is on my phone, with minimum distraction but also not basic. Here's the feature list. Library Management -Store all imported books in one central library -Organise books into colour-coded collections based on series, genre, topic, mood, or custom groupings -Filter books by reading status, including currently reading, to read, completed, and favourites -Sort by title, author, date added, last opened, or reading progress -Search instantly by title or author -Reading progress is tracked automatically for each book Reading Experience -Three reading modes: single page, two-column, and continuous scroll -Adjustable typography controls, including font, size, line height, spacing, and alignment -Light, dark, and sepia themes -Focus mode for distraction-free reading Reading Tools -Highlight selected passages using multiple colours -Add notes to highlights -Bookmark pages for quick access -Navigate directly to any chapter using the table of contents -Translation up to 13 languages -Look up word definitions inline without leaving the reader Text-to-Speech -Text-to-speech playback with natural-sounding voices -Phrase highlighting during playback -Adjustable speed, and volume controls -Skip forward or backward by line or paragraph -Optional sleep timer Notes and Export -Export to Markdown, plain text, CSV, or JSON -Readwise compatible CSV Desktop Features -Full keyboard navigation -Built-in shortcut reference -Multiple library views: grid, detailed grid, and list -Lightweight download size (approx. 10 MB) -Available on Windows and Linux This is a beta release, so expect few thing that need ironing-out. App's mostly offline, the exceptions being the dictionary, translation, and downloadable TTS voices. Thank you for checking it out - I'm open to feedback.
