Density is so cool. I can imagine this being so critical for space planning, architecture, facility management, and utilization tracking. Brilliant to connect the threshold tracking with open area tracking -- didn't even realize this was technologically possible!
honestly, we weren't sure it was possible either. But once we saw the output of one of our early prototypes, we about did a backflip. Side note, turns out radar is delicate in a lot of ways and hard to manufacture. Some parts actually expire if you don't use them in a set time.
Very cool! Get for understanding how people use space at outdoor events!
Outdoor has always been an interesting challenge. With our infrared technology, we would always run into the sunlight challenge. Our 850nm lasers compete with direct sunlight making outdoor challenging. With Open Area, we think it's feasible to eventually do outdoors as it's unaffected by light. Important note, this version is not waterproof :)
use lidar then?
Super important right now when companies are trying to reopen safely.
100%. All data will tie back to our software . Which was also on PH a little while back.
Looks pretty cool, but what about other colors?
On rare occasion we've done a different anodization finish, but it adds a lot to the cost. For the most part, our customers end up really happy with how the sensors blend into their space.
Got it!
I haven't seen anything else like this. Very cool!
Occupancy and space utilization in the built world is a super hard problem to solve, especially in open spaces. This would have been an incredible thing to have pre-pandemic, let alone post-pandemic when everyone will need to monitor occupancy of key open floorplan areas. Sooo cool. Excited to see it in the wild!
always thought this is hard problem to solve growing up as kid. now, we have solved this issue. Exciting times!
Honestly, we didn't realize how hard of a problem it was when we first started. We had just assumed that people counting had been solved since the 80's. Oh, how we were wrong... (but I'm glad we stuck with it!)
Great product - congrats!
you know what else would be cool? instead of having a counter for bouncers or staff in restaurants, the total number of people updated digitally in an app for doorman to use in bars or restaurants. You could even pitch this to government departments in countries who want to ensure covid safe measures (very stringent here in Aus) and bulk order your product for hospitality groups to use. Could speed up your growth during this pandemic...
great ideas! We're currently working with customers on maintaining fire (pre-COVID) and health (COVID) codes, removing the need for manual counting. I'm very interested in also surfacing that data for occupants / patrons to be able to make safe decisions about space as well. The government approach is an interesting one!
Great job as usual, Andrew and team. I've seen Density's sensors deployed in production and they are incredibly accurate. Wish you all the best with the new product lines!
