How do you figure out what you'll owe in taxes before April?

by•

Every year I used to get to April with no real idea what I'd owe the IRS. Budgeting apps showed me where my money went, but never what that meant for my taxes. The options always seemed to be: pay an accountant, wait for tax software in the spring, or build a spreadsheet and hope for the best.

That frustration is why I built Countorra, an AI that connects to your bank and calculates your federal taxes (plus state taxes for CA, NY, AZ, FL and TX) from your own records. We launched on Product Hunt today.

But I'm genuinely curious how others handle this:

  • Do you check what you'll owe during the year, or only at filing time?

  • Accountant, tax software, spreadsheet, or something else?

  • What would you need to trust an app with your financial data?

Would love to hear what works for you, and what doesn't.
