Copana turns Claude Code into a personal AI that actually knows you. No app, no server, no Docker just markdown files.
Your AI's memory, personality, and preferences live in .md files, and more simple then OpenClaw, and even lighter then NanoClaw!
50 files. ~3,600 lines of code. 5 dependencies. Setup in 30 seconds. Open source, MIT licensed.
Hey PH! I'm Jan, solo founder of PayRequest.
I built a personal AI assistant for myself that runs in Claude Code. After a month it felt like having a co-founder who never forgets my goals, my patterns, my open tasks, even my preferences.
The secret? Everything is just markdown files. No database, no cloud, no complex setup like OpenClaw. Your AI's memory is a text file you can read. Its personality is a text file you can edit. That's it.
I realized this shouldn't be locked to my setup, so I extracted the framework into Copana. 50 files, 5 dependencies, works in 30 seconds.
The name comes from "copana" it means buddy/companion. The capybara mascot is because they're chill, social, and get along with everyone. That's the vibe.
Happy to answer any questions about the architecture, how the memory system works, or why I chose markdown over a database. Try it and let me know what you think!
