can you share a bit more about the team?

sure! The founding team is Nazan Kurt, Aziz Kurt, and me. We came together in May 2020 and quickly realized we wanted to start a company together given our shared background and complementary skill sets. Aziz and I worked together on stories at Snap, and formed a friendship when, walking back from lunch, we realized they had a shared interest in Turkish music! Nazan and Aziz met at college and worked together at Microsoft for 10+ years.

Commons makes remote work easier. I normally spend a lot of time in Zoom. This app takes away some of that friction and makes informal collaboration a bit easier. Recommend for managers and product/tech leads who sit and suffer through Zoom meetings all day!

We have being using Commons for over 2 months now, we expect for it to become one of the main tools we'll use to comunicate as we stay in Home Office. Our company already decided to stay in Home Office permanently.

Good Q. We support video as well, but in an earlier version of the product we realized that many conversations would start with video off. We’re hyper focused on speed, so we thought - maybe we can go faster by just having audio only as the default. So we kept it. And it’s indeed faster--but also more informal!
