You Can Even Create Apps That Uses Cloud World Model APIs

Here's a silly app that I created using Vercel called Disaster Day. I planned to submit it to a hackathon but not sure yet.

Here is the basic premise of the game.

Design an AWS architecture on a strict hourly budget, then defend it against a randomized barrage of escalating disasters. The Cloud World Model simulates every outcome. How long can your stack stay up?

I know the game is a bit silly. Try it out. The game uses the Cloud World Model API's

hey kevin, the silly is the strongest part. "design an AWS architecture on a strict hourly budget then defend it against chaos" hits way different than "calculate your cloud bill." you turned the dry part of cloud engineering into a game with actual stakes.

going to try the link tonight when i'm done shipping. one suggestion before i play: if the disaster events surface "your stack just failed because..." for a tiny pause before showing the damage, the loss feels educational. without that beat it's just "you lost, here's the number." i'd want the 2-second moment of grief.

great way to show off the simulation engine.

Yes, there was a hackathon that planned on submitting it for. It's a hackathon by Vercel and AWS. Only, two days remaining on the hackathon and not sure yet if will submit it.

Yes, please try it out. Your suggestion is good. I need to get back to it to see what was actually built, if plan on submitting it. Originally built it a couple weeks back but haven't submitted it.

submit it. two days is more time than most builders use to finalize a hackathon entry, and "demo a working game built on top of your own API" is a stronger story than 80% of what'll be in that pool.

if you do, drop the link back here. those community judging tracks usually move on lower upvote counts than you'd guess. the win is more accessible than founders assume.

Will do, I'll try and have it submitted on Sunday. The submission guidelines mentions making a public post about it. I wonder, if can just submit this thread :)
