Thanks for supporting Cliptop, what should I improve next?
by•
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who followed and checked out Cliptop so far. It’s still early, but the support from Product Hunt has already been really helpful.
If you downloaded the app, I’d love to hear what you think:
What felt useful right away?
What felt confusing or unfinished?
Is there anything you expected from a clipboard app that Cliptop doesn’t do yet?
I’m also working on the next bigger step: an iOS companion app. The idea is not to make iOS another clipboard manager, but to let you access and save clips across devices, with private iCloud sync between Mac and iPhone.
Curious if that would be useful to you, and what you’d expect from it.
Thanks again for giving Cliptop a look. 🙏

I think cross-device sync would be one of the most valuable additions. A clipboard manager becomes much more useful when clips can follow you between devices. Being able to quickly save something on Mac and access it later from iPhone sounds like a natural next step.

@hosseinyazdi I completely agree 😁 the iOS version is almost completed and can't wait to get it out for everyone to use. The biggest timesink with it is to get the sync to work well with iCloud. It can be a bit of a pain sometimes because it fails to send updates to the devices. But I think it's almost perfect now 🤏
The idea for an iOS app with iCloud sync is exactly what is needed to make the experience complete. It would be great to access links and texts from my phone while on the go. How do you plan to handle password security if they end up in the clipboard? Otherwise, everything looks very minimal and clean, good luck with the development!

@milenap Cliptop allows you to exclude apps from clipboard saving. Also, apps like password managers include some metadata to tell applications that the string is sensitive and Cliptop handles this as well.
On top of all of this, Cliptop does something that none of the other clipboard managers do, from what I've seen so far. It will remove sensitive from active clipboard after a successful paste. This is a feature that can be enabled in settings 😁
