Hey everyone 👋 I built Clinch because I kept running into the same problem with studying: I could spend hours making flashcards in Quizlet or Anki, but I wasn’t actually retaining what I studied. It felt like I was memorizing card order instead of truly understanding.
What finally clicked for me was realizing that when I explained things out loud, almost like teaching them. I remembered them way better. Speaking forced me to connect ideas, not just recall words. The problem was, there wasn’t really a tool built around that way of studying.
So I made Clinch. It takes your study material, prompts you, and then you answer out loud. The assistant listens, gives you feedback, asks follow-ups, and helps fill in the gaps. It’s basically active recall, but in the way our brains naturally process information, through speaking and teaching.
I’m super curious to hear how others here approach studying and memory. If you’ve ever felt stuck in the “flashcard grind,” I think you’ll get why I wanted to build this.
