Climograph Guesser - Can you guess the city from its climate? Pin it on the map.

by
Climograph Guesser is a free geography quiz game where you analyze real climate data — temperature curves and precipitation bars — and try to identify where in the world it comes from. Every round pulls actual historical climate data from Open-Meteo's archive API, so no two games feel the same. You're not guessing from vibes — you're reading a climograph.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I built Climograph Guesser because I wanted a geography quiz that actually taught you something rather than just testing name recognition. Most geo-guessing games reward you for memorizing what countries look like on a map. This one forces you to think about why climates differ — why Tokyo and New York feel so different in summer, why Cape Town and San Francisco have such similar charts, why Manaus and Singapore look almost identical. The scoring was the fun engineering challenge. Instead of "right or wrong," your score is based on the cosine similarity between the climate vectors of your guess and the target city. So if you drop a pin in the wrong city but nail the climate zone, you still score well. That makes it educational rather than punishing. A few things I'm proud of: 300+ cities in the dataset, from Longyearbyen (Svalbard) to Tristan da Cunha to McMurdo Station in Antarctica Real data every time — fetched live from Open-Meteo's historical archive, not hardcoded averages Challenge mode ranks with Japanese titles, because why not make it a little extra It's completely free, no login required, no ads. Just a weird climate quiz I built because I thought it'd be fun. Would love to hear how you score on Challenge Mode! 🌍
