ClickNote - Now works in PDFs too: highlight any line, get it explained

by•
Most AI tools answer one question and stop. ClickNote is built around how people actually learn. Highlight any confusing line on a webpage or PDF and get an instant explanation that reads the page around it. Still unclear? Select inside the answer to go deeper, or ask a follow-up, without leaving the page or breaking your flow. Made for dense docs, research papers and textbooks.

Hey Product Hunt 👋

I started building ClickNote while reading a technical doc. I tried a few apps and extensions to help me understand it, and none of them felt right. After thinking about it for a few days, I found three problems:

  1. Too slow. Even the fastest tools broke my reading flow. The problem wasn’t the speed of the answer, it was the process: copy, switch tabs, paste, ask.

  2. Wrong context. The tools explained my selection on its own, as if the rest of the page didn’t exist, so the answer often didn’t fit what I was actually reading.

  3. No way to go deeper. Explanations used terms I didn’t know either, so I ended up Googling the explanation of the explanation, or asking in another chat. That took me to a different page and brought back problems 1 and 2.

A few tools handled #2 nicely but none of them handled #1 or #3.

So I built ClickNote. It does three things:

  1. Low friction. Highlight any text and the explanation appears right next to it, without breaking your flow.

  2. Context-aware. It reads the page around your selection, so you get the meaning that fits what you’re reading, not a dictionary definition.

  3. Infinite drill-down. Select any part of the explanation to go deeper, or ask a follow-up, all in the same panel.

New in this launch: PDFs. Research papers, textbooks and manuals open in ClickNote’s own PDF viewer, and you can highlight and get explanations there the same way. The PDF stays on your device.

Try it from the link above. Your first 50 explanations are free.

I’d love your feedback and suggestions. Thanks for trying it out!
