CipherLock v1.3 - Explore cryptography on a world map and a family tree of every cipher

CipherLock v1.3 is here. Same promise (client-side, no accounts, no tracking), with the new content and interaction update.

FOUR NEW ANCIENT ASIAN CIPHERS

Added Yin Fu and Yin Shu from the Chinese Six Secret Teachings (around 400 BC), Mlecchita-vikalpa from the Kama Sutra (around 400 CE), and Shinobi Iroha from the Japanese Bansenshukai ninja manual (1676). The timeline finally reaches beyond the Mediterranean tradition. Yin Shu is essentially Shamir's Secret Sharing, invented 2,400 years earlier.

A new view under the Academy timeline. See where each cipher was born and where it was broken: Poland breaks Enigma in 1932, Al-Kindi dismantles the Mediterranean in the 9th century, Leuven builds AES and later kills RC4. An era filter (Ancient, Renaissance, Industrial, Digital) declutters dense periods.

THE FAMILY TREE: 28 NODES, 10 FAMILIES, EVERY LINEAGE VISIBLE

A third view of the same history. Every cipher declares who it inherited from, and curved edges draw the family tree across nine era columns from Antiquity to Post-Quantum. Vigenère is a child of Caesar and Al-Kindi. Enigma inherits from Vigenère and Playfair. TLS 1.3 stands on Diffie-Hellman, AES, SHA-256 and PGP all at once. Hover any node to light its complete lineage (ancestors above, descendants below) and fade everything unrelated. Filter by family. Jump between relatives from the side panel.

SIX NEW NODES, KERCKHOFFS TO KYBER

The tree now reaches Kerckhoffs's Law (1883), Shannon's Theory (1949), DES (1977), SHA-256 (2001), TLS 1.3 (2018), and NIST's ML-KEM / Kyber (2024). From the Spartan Scytale to the internet's next handshake, with two new bands: Hash and Principle.

POLISH ACROSS 9 LANGUAGES

Bumped tiny UI labels for Chinese, Japanese and Hindi so glyphs stay legible at the same visual weight as Latin. Cleaned stylistic em-dashes out of every locale without breaking grammar. A few smaller fixes across the tool, the header and the mobile navigation.

Everything is still client-side. No database, no cookies, no tracking. I build and maintain CipherLock on my own; if you have any feedback or honest criticism, I would genuinely love to hear it.
