Chunk - An essential macos productivity app

byβ€’
Chunk is a macOS menu bar app for time-blocking your day. Create colour-coded blocks, build reusable templates, and automate your week with routines that apply your schedule automatically. Sync Google, Outlook, Apple calendars, switch into Todo mode to manage tasks with your schedule, and connect Apple Reminders so everything's in one place. Ask Claude to plan your day and your blocks are created for you. Fullscreen notifications when it's time to switch. One shortcut away, even in fullscreen.

Hey Product Hunt!

Dudley here - tech lead for Chunk. πŸ‘‹

We built Chunk because we kept bouncing between calendars, notes, and a dozen other apps just to stay on track for the day. What we actually wanted was something dead simple: a way to break the day into focused chunks of time, always one shortcut away, never breaking your flow.

That's Chunk. It lives in your menu bar, slides down over whatever you're doing (yes, including fullscreen apps), and keeps a live countdown ticking in your tray so you always know how much time you have left on your current task.

What makes it different:

βœ… Works over fullscreen apps - no exiting, no desktop switching

βœ… Templates & Routines let you build your ideal day once and auto-apply it every week

βœ… Fullscreen notifications that actually get your attention when it's time to switch

βœ… Todo mode to capture and schedule tasks without leaving the menu bar

βœ… Google, Outlook and Apple Calendar sync built in

βœ… Apple Reminders integration - your existing tasks, right alongside your time blocks

βœ… Claude Desktop integration via a local MCP server - ask Claude to plan your day, and it reads and writes directly to your schedule

βœ… Not another Electron app

It started as a tool we built for ourselves and use every single day. It's now at v2.0 with a week view, analytics, 25 languages, more integrations and plans for so much more...

Would love you all to have a go and let us know any feedback or integrations you'd like to see added.

There a trail free for 7 days and its no credit card required.

Happy to answer anything. πŸ™

The live countdown timer in your tray is clever for ambient awareness, but I'm curious whether a constantly visible second-by-second ticker amplifies time pressure rather than enabling focus. There's a real psychological gap between knowing how much time you have left (helpful) and watching it deplete in real-time (anxious). Did you A/B test variants where the countdown surfaces only on-demand, or does the always-visible variant actually improve chunk adherence?

@erzoisonline great question Erzo! We actually have the option to hide the menubar timer during tasks. We find this is almost never done though and that having the time provides the perfect amount of urgency to get tasks done without being a distraction. It’s been a key feature for our ADHD users πŸ˜ƒ
