Checkin helps you connect with people nearby, in real time. Whether at a bar, café, gym, or museum. No endless profiles, just real-world moments in real time.

Hi PH 👋 I’m Niel, founder of Checkin.

I’m excited to introduce Checkin. Brining back the old way to meet people in real time, at the places you love. Before this, I led UX and product design teams, and now I’m building Checkin as a solo founder out of Sydney.

What is it?

Checkin is a real-time social discovery app. You can check into venues like bars, cafés, hotels, gyms, or museums, and see who else is nearby and open to connecting. It’s built for friendships, networking, travel buddies, or even serendipitous encounters all in the moment, not through endless profiles.

Why now?

In a world of swipes and algorithms, meeting people has become digital and detached. At the same time, people are craving authentic, local, face-to-face connections. Venues also need new ways to bring people together and thrive in a competitive market.

That’s why I built Checkin, to bring social connection back to the real world, in a way that feels natural, safe, and fun.

It’s early days, I’d love your feedback on:

• What would make you want to use Checkin?

• Which types of venues/events do you think it’s best suited for?

• How can I make it even safer and more fun?

A few insights and questions I’d love your thoughts on:

  • Many people want to meet others, but the hardest step is breaking the ice. What would make you feel comfortable starting a conversation with someone new in a venue?

  • Some people prefer planned meetups, others want spontaneous moments. Which type of connection do you personally find more exciting ie, planned or in-the-moment?

  • For venues, we’re building Checkin Concierge so they can share events, offers, and specials directly in-app. What kind of offers or events would motivate you to check in at your favourite spot?

Happy to answer any questions!
