Captn - A focused subtitle editor for creators and video teams

by
Captn is a focused subtitle workflow for creators who need subtitles as the final deliverable, not just a small feature inside a big video editor. Upload a video or existing SRT/VTT file, generate subtitles, edit text and timing visually on the preview, translate captions, style subtitles, create clips, export SRT/VTT, burn subtitles into MP4, or export captioned green-screen videos for use in other editors.

We built Captn because most subtitle tools are good at generating captions, but frustrating when you actually need to fix them. The problem we kept seeing was simple: auto-captions are rarely ready as-is. People still need to correct transcript text, timing, speaker changes, styling, and exports, and that usually means jumping between multiple tools or fighting a clunky editor. Captn is our attempt to make that workflow much cleaner. You can upload a video, generate subtitles, edit the transcript and subtitle blocks in one place, adjust timing, work with speaker-aware transcript flows, preview everything directly in the browser, and export a captioned video without leaving the app. We focused less on “one-click captions” and more on what happens after transcription, the part where real editing work begins. Would love to hear what feels most broken in your current subtitle workflow, and what tools you’re using today.
