canon - Document your design system. Right on the canvas.

A Figma plugin for structured component documentation. Generates annotation frames directly on the canvas. AI-accelerated, human-owned, exportable to CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md.

Hey Product Hunt šŸ‘‹ Neil here, a product designer and solo developer. I built canon because the problem I kept running into had no good solution: design system documentation that actually stays current, lives where the work lives, and gives developers real context instead of a document that nobody updates. canon generates structured component documentation directly on the Figma canvas. Design rationale, when to use a component, when not to, variant decision guide, accessibility notes. All of it human authored and AI accelerated. Developers can open it in Figma's Dev Mode Inspect panel and see full documentation without needing an editor seat. One button exports everything to CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md so your AI coding agent gets the real system, not an approximation of it. A skill file makes an agent capable. canon makes it trustworthy. Built entirely in public over the past couple months. Storage bugs, silent API failures, a 3 minute scan on 4,081 components, and a lot of learning about the Figma plugin sandbox. Happy to answer any questions about how it works or what is next. šŸ‘‰ neilaguinaldo.com/canon.html
