Hey Product Hunters! 👋 I’m pumped to share a little something the Buffer marketing team built for ourselves that we hope other marketers and businesses will enjoy, too. Buffer Stories Creator is a free, quick, and lightweight way to create and download images for your Facebook and Instagram Stories - helping you lay the foundation of your Stories with customizable text, graphics, and a background image or color. We love using it to add our branding to our Stories, and keep them in a consistent style. It’s super easy to download the images you create (no sign-up or sign-in needed) so that you can add them to your Stories when the time is right for you. With over 500 million combined daily active users on Facebook and Instagram, Stories are an amazing opportunity for brands and businesses to connect with their audience and we’re excited about making it easier and faster to plan out Stories content. It’d be awesome to hear what you think and feel free to ask any questions! 😄 EDIT: Thanks for all the great questions! I just wanted to mention that we don't quite have this working on mobile just yet. Right now you can check it out on your desktop or tablet. Thank you! Cheers, Mike (and the Buffer team!)
no scheduling?
Not at this stage but hopefully in the future! 🙂🤞
Still waiting for story scheduling feature. :)
Thanks for sharing and for hanging in there! Hopefully it'll be possible some time soon. Feel free to let us know if you have any other thoughts or questions. 🙂
Cool, can't wait :)
totally! We have so many clients and the Stories process is one of our more time consuming processes.
We're waiting on the day as well! From what we've heard from the Instagram team, they're looking to keep Facebook/Instagram Stories as "authentic" as possible. So while no scheduling capabilities seem to be in our immediate future, we're still holding out hope!
Oh, i understand... Too bad, though. Would be awesome to be able not to only create, but also schedule stories :)
Super cool and needed!!! One thing -> have you thought about integrating Unsplah. It would save us so much time! Thanks for such a great web app!
Hi Gabriela! Yes, what a great suggestion. This was quite high on our wish list and was one of the toughest things to cut as we reduced scope. That being said, it could very well be one of the first things we add on the roadmap! Thanks for the validation. 🙌
👀Thanks, Gabriela! Definitely top 3 on the roadmap! Really appreciate you giving the tool a try :)
Seems slightly adjusted version of your Pablo app with the addition of a couple options.
I'm inclined to agree. I'd love to know if there's anything aside from a couple UI additions, and the image dimensions that makes it a different offering altogether.
I was thinking the same thing. Pablo 2.0. Looks great though 👍
I believe the current version of Pablo is considered 2.0, so this may be 3.0?
better jump to 5.0 just to be safe. Or Pablo X 😃
Great catch! We started with Pablo as a "base" for this new tool and added a bunch of UI/UX improvements. And we're excited to say that this gives us an awesome starting place for lots of new features in the future... Stay tuned! And thanks for giving it a try 😊
Nice to see a simple "does one thing well" app for a usecase many brands and businesses have. 🙌
Thanks so much for the kind words!
❤️
Congratulations and team. Keen to understand the tech stack that powers this awesome tool? Any Javascript frameworks, etc?
I see Fabric.js being used there (awesome tech that we also use on our product)
Yes indeed! Fabric.js is a big part of it. We based a lot of the tech off of another of our free marketing tools, Pablo (). I'll see if our devs can add a bit more detail about the specific tech involved. (cc ) Thanks for the great question!
Hey , great question! The Stories Creator was built using Fabric.js, KineticJS, React and good ol Vanilla JS.
Ah awesome, I spoke to Andrew about this sometime ago. That's the same canvas tech as Pablo?
so many awesome JS libraries, it's all about the selecting the right one for the job. I researching for a drag and drop solution at the moment for a new web editor I am building for Gather.

Makes creating custom visuals as frictionless as can be. Thank you Buffer.

Pros:

awesome application that i needed badly for all my social.

Cons:

no cons here:)

Excellent tool that I will definitely be sharing with the social media account managers at my agency. Stories are something that we're beginning to offer as a service and this looks like the perfect tool for making sure they're reflecting our client's unique branding. Fantastic job, Buffer! Love these features: - Beautiful font options where Instagram is lacking. - Dope templates. If design isn't your strength, NBD, Buffer's got you covered. - Ability to brand the story with your own logos and graphics makes the story so much more professional! Love that feature. Improvements: - Limited typography sizing. Would like to be able to pinch zoom the text instead of the 3 sizing options that are in there right now. - When I click on the text box, the placeholder should disappear. - Would like the ability to add more than 3 text boxes. - I also upvote your idea of integrating Unsplash to help people create polished content.
Hi Stacie! Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words and the amazing feedback! Super excited to pass the improvements section along to the team. We have big plans for Stories Creator and can't wait to continually improve this in the coming months. We'll no doubt be looking to folks like you for feedback. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime at :) Thanks again!

I think it'll be fun to have a mix of images created by this tool + impromptu (not as pretty) images incorporated into my Stories. I can't wait to explore more!

Pros:

It's a quick way to get beautiful content onto my Stories!

Cons:

Nothing just yet

Amazing work! Together with Pablo, it will be an essential tool for social networks

Pros:

Very easy to use!

Cons:

For now, nothing!
