BlurbBio launched yesterday — here's what we built and why

We launched BlurbBio yesterday — an AI writing platform built specifically for fiction authors.

The core idea: most AI writing tools either check your grammar or try to write for you. Neither is what a novelist actually needs.

What novelists need is a tool that:

• Tracks 100+ characters across 80+ chapters

• Catches when a character's eye color changes between chapters

• Helps you think through plot problems without taking over your voice

• Understands genre conventions, not just sentence structure

So that's what we built. Story Bible, real-time conflict detection, AI Copilot with 7 brainstorm modes, 86 genre templates, manuscript health scoring, and book export.

A few things we learned from yesterday's launch:

• Writers are desperately looking for tools that respect their craft

• The conflict detection feature resonated most — people immediately understood the pain it solves

• The "AI that doesn't write for you" positioning landed well
