Plus: Live Activity on your Lock Screen, automatic trip detection, multi-currency travel log, bill splitting up to 20 ways, and Siri shortcuts. Built by a solo dev in Switzerland. Hey Product Hunt! I'm Timo, a solo iOS developer from Switzerland. I built BillTip because I kept having the same awkward moment in restaurants abroad — meal finished, bill arrives, and I have no idea if I should tip, how much, or whether it's even welcome. Turns out, the US tipping system is a global outlier. In Japan, tipping can be seen as insulting. In Germany, you just round up to the next euro. In Egypt, you tip everyone — even the person who opens your car door. I researched tipping customs for 82 countries and built them into an app that actually tells you what locals expect — not just "enter 18%." The feature I'm most proud of is the Live Activity — your total stays on your Lock Screen while you finish the meal. No other tip calculator does this. Would love to hear your feedback, especially from fellow travelers. What countries have given you the most confusing tipping moments?
