Brendan's Inspiration: When Wordle made its big debut in late 2021, my partner and I used it as a way to bond. Almost every day at the strike of midnight, we would be battling words and competing for the win. I would always start OPIUM for the vowel power, and her word of choice was always AVERT. But nowadays, the drive to pursue strong professional careers has driven us 10 hours of timezone apart. Her today is often my tomorrow, and my today is often her yesterday. Sure, we can still play the daily Wordle, but it feels diminished when there's no unified midnight and when we might just see different words altogether, being different days. And so, my answer to that was creating a new version of Wordle. One that makes it a little easier for two people to share the experience. Battle Wordle. Nina's Inspiration: I went to high school with Brendan and, as a Wordle hardo, got super excited when he shared his idea for a competitive Wordle game! I also loved that the idea for the product came from a place of love to connect with his long-distance GF (also a Wordle Hardo!).
