Have you ever lost money on a non-refundable hotel booking? We're launching tomorrow to fix this.
Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
We’ve all been there: you book a non-refundable hotel room, life happens, plans change, and the hotel/OTA keeps 100% of your money.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), we’re officially launching Avago v1.0—a secondary marketplace where travelers can safely transfer non-refundable hotel reservations with built-in buyer escrow and fraud protection.
An unexpected dynamic we're seeing: Because hotel prices surge closer to the check-in date (especially during peak seasons, conferences, or festivals), booking early creates a unique market opportunity:
A traveler can lock in a room early for €150.
If plans change (or live rates on Booking.com surge to €450), they can sell it on Avago for €280.
The seller earns a profit, and the buyer still gets a massive discount compared to current OTA prices. It’s a genuine win-win.
We’re also actively iterating on our direct hotel & reseller portals to help hotels monetize excess inventory discreetly.
Before we go live tomorrow morning, we’d love your honest thoughts:
If you were selling a booking you couldn't use, what would be your biggest concern?
Have you ever wished you could lock in and trade travel reservations like other assets?
(You can visit the live marketplace here: https://avagomarket.com)
Any early feedback or thoughts would mean a lot to our team! 🚀
