Hey Product Hunt! I'm William, the solo maker behind AutoDockDrive. I built this app to solve a problem that has always annoyed me about macOS: it forces you to either clutter up your desktop with drive icons or dig through Finder just to access your external storage. I wanted my drives to live in the Dock, but only when they were actually plugged in. AutoDockDrive fixes this completely. It sits silently in your menu bar and listens for drives. When you plug in a USB, SD card, or external SSD, it safely injects a shortcut into your Dock. Eject the drive, and it cleans up after itself. It's completely free and open-source. Over the last few weeks, based on early feedback, I've also added: Menu Bar Management: Eject or Open drives straight from the menu bar. Smart Filtering: It ignores DMGs, app installers, and Time Machine backups. Exclusions: Permanently hide specific drives you leave plugged in. I'd love for you to try it out on your Mac and let me know what you think. I'll be hanging out in the comments all day to answer questions and take feature requests.
