Hey everyone, thanks so much for checking out AthX! I’ve been a fantasy sports addict for over 15 years: playing DFS, season-long leagues, you name it. But I always felt something was missing. Traditional fantasy is fun, but it’s mostly “set it and forget it” or high-variance daily gambling. I wanted something that felt more like investing in the athletes I love: owning shares, watching real performance drive value, and building a portfolio based on skill and research instead of pure luck.
The big problem I was trying to solve: Fantasy sports has always been either too passive or too much like gambling. I wanted to create a true skill-based marketplace where you can actively trade athletes like stocks — with scarcity, projections, and real upside based on stats.
The journey wasn’t easy. Early on, I massively underestimated how complex pricing and projection. I never gave up on the project and feel I am getting rewarded for it now. I wanted to ensure the economics were right, and making sure the app felt smooth on mobile. I did burned through several prototypes and had to rewrite large parts of the backend.
In the end, we simplified, focused on core mechanics (IPO pricing based on projections, performance-driven value, and clean trading), and leaned heavily into making it genuinely skill-based rather than chance-based.I’m incredibly proud of where we landed, but we’re still very early and we want to hear from more users, as we believe that AthX needs to be user-first.
