We became the content sharing site we always wanted to be. ArcAngels is way more than a story-sharing platform: it has many tools to support your audience-finding journey that can be started even before you finish your first draft.

I'm not gonna lie, it is a little scarry, however it's time to do our first major pivot with ArcAngels. We've seen the path before us in our first launch clearly, but it turned out to be way too blurry for everyone else. (Basically not many understood what we wanted to do with this platform at first).
So we need it to make it simpler and more straightforward and I really hope we done it this time, but it is only you who can tell this to us!
As a dedicated writer myself, I have to admit that I am more excited about the new path then ever before so it works at least on one person.
I am looking forward for all opinions, questions and possibly suggestion for our next steps in the writer-focused, content supportive journey we have started to walk on.
Huge thanks to my lovely wife who is always supporting my crazy projects! <3
It's like building in public but for books! One question though: how can authors protect their IP and make sure nobody steals or misuses their texts?

@mskatecheng Dear Katya, thank you for the question! We've got a number of ways to protect our users' content on the site.
First of all, although it doesn't offer full protection from all harmful methods but we've internally blocked content copy options on the site as a first wall of defense, which will definitely hold back lazy trials from stealing other's work.
Following that, the app prevents users to access other users' work without: 1- being registered on the site with a genuine email address, and 2- without signing up for the exact book prior accessing it's content.
All users should agree to share their analytics information with us once again and also with the writers upon accessing a new book at the first time. From that point onwards, we keep recording of all their actions (which content they've accessed and when, how long they've been around the content and more) and also plan to include numerous ways to report unusual behaviour.
Lastly, we stand beside our writers and are happy to provide proofs of content uploads, time stamps, and any additional information required to prove ownership based on our available data.
We are not building a fully automated service, but rather working towards an active and supportive community, where everyone is here for the stories we all love.
I know that this doesn't apply to all possibilities and I don't think there is a perfect protection against theft on the internet, but we are writers too and making a living out of our craft is just as important for us as it is for all of our users.
Furthermore, writers have full, chapter-level control over their content, which allows modifications, updates, changes and more. Think about ArcAngels as a living place for your work and not as a marketplace or a stock sharing website.
We are learning and optimising every day and are not afraid to implement features for the better. This app is not made for the profit at the first place but for the love of craft and possibilities beyond current opportunities.
@mskatecheng@peterwolf I think we all have a level of anxiety when it's comes to sharing our original content. Long time ago when I was completely new and naive to the internet I shared my poems on a writing forum, only to realise that one of the members stole a bunch of content from me and others and shared them as his own. So naturally my first concern with any new platform is the security and protection.
Currently, I have one unfinished story uploaded with 15 chapters and most of them are locked even for subscribers. People who aren't subscribed to it though, can't see any of them, only my updates, blurb, tags and news on the story 🙂
