In 10 minutes, I Put My Heart on the Line: Launching Appsonbid on Product Hunt
Right now, there’s an empty coffee mug sitting next to my laptop, a terminal window blinking in the corner, and a countdown timer staring back at me.
In exactly 10 minutes, Appsonbid goes live on Product Hunt.
My heart has been hammering against my ribs all morning. Anyone who has ever built something from scratch—alone in a room at 2:00 AM, hunting down obscure bugs, arguing with payment webhooks, and wondering if anyone in the world will ever care—knows this exact feeling. It’s an intoxicating mix of pure terror and pure adrenaline.
Today isn’t just a product launch for me. It’s the culmination of every frustration, doubt, and lesson I’ve lived through as an indie builder.
The Moment I Knew Something Had to Change
Like thousands of developers out there, I love shipping. There is no high quite like writing that final commit, deploying to production, and watching that first stranger sign up.
But when it comes time to move on—when you’ve taken a side project as far as you can and want to sell it to someone who can scale it—the current software landscape punches you right in the stomach.
I lived through two massive insults that every indie hacker knows too well:
The 15% Broker Tax: You pour hundreds of hours into building an app, take all the personal and financial risk, make an exit for $20,000, and a middleman takes $3,000 just for hosting a web page and forcing you into a week of legal bureaucracy.
The Clone Trap: You put your app on a public marketplace to find an acquirer. But because your live URL and brand name are pasted in plain sight, you don't find a buyer—you find three copycats who clone your idea, spin up a cheaper knockoff over the weekend, and steal your momentum before your deal even closes.
It felt completely backward. Why are solo founders penalized for building small, profitable software? Why can't we sell our hard work quietly, without exposing our blueprints to the entire internet?
Building the Tool I Desperately Needed
A few months ago, I closed my tabs, opened a clean repository, and decided to build the platform I wished had existed all along: appsonbid.com.
I wanted to flip the entire acquisition model on its head:
Zero Commissions: 0% broker fee on exits. If you sell an app for $10,000, you keep every single cent. We don't take a slice of your exit.
The "Blind Teaser" Shield: When you list your app, your live URL and project name stay completely hidden. Buyers see your verified numbers, your tech stack, and your traction—meaning no one can clone your idea.
Cryptographic Proof, Not Spreadsheets: We built direct integrations to verify real revenue through payment providers and real traffic through Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Buyers get verifiable data; sellers get instant credibility.
Frictionless Discovery: Buyers browse and bid for free. Sellers pay a tiny flat fee ($39) only when they accept a bid to unlock the buyer's direct contact details. After that, we get out of the way so both founders can close cleanly.
Every screen, every API call, every Zod validation schema was crafted with one goal in mind: protecting the builder.
Why Today Matters So Much
Putting something you built into the public square is vulnerable. It’s opening yourself up to criticism, scrutiny, and the silent fear of hearing crickets.
But seeing the early listings pop up, talking to founders who are sick of the incumbent broker fees, and realizing that this solves a real, painful problem in our community makes every sleepless night completely worth it.
If you are an indie hacker with a side project gathering dust in your GitHub graveyard, or an operator looking to buy a clean, cash-flowing micro-app without inflated broker markups—this is for you.
To everyone who has ever supported an indie developer, shared feedback, or cheered from the sidelines: thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The launch begins now. Let’s change how software is bought and sold.
