Hey everyone 👋 I’m Jakob, co-founder of Butter, which we've built to help people run super-engaging, interactive sessions from start to finish. We’re about to launch Scenes, an exciting new tool for interactive presentations and collaboration which people can use alongside Zoom/MS Teams/Google Meet—perfect for anyone who cares about keeping participants focused and engaged! We’ve launched on Product Hunt 3x before, and we've hit #1 Product of the Day and became a finalist for the Golden Kitty Awards — so I'm super grateful and excited to do an AMA and share our learnings here! Ask me anything about building a fully-remote startup, product- and community-led growth, keeping clarity, conviction and focus as a founder, and the future of collaboration!

Hey Jakob! 👋 First off, huge fan of Butter—your approach to making online sessions more engaging is nothing short of awesome. 🎉 Scenes sounds like a fantastic addition to the toolkit! Keeping participants focused during virtual sessions is a modern-day superpower, so kudos for tackling that challenge. 🔥 Here’s my question: As a founder navigating product- and community-led growth, how do you strike a balance between implementing user feedback and staying true to your product vision? Have there been moments where user requests clashed with your roadmap, and if so, how did you handle them? Oh, and speaking of tools for productivity and collaboration, I work on pdf to pdf.ai—an OCR tool that keeps the layout of scanned documents intact, shrinks file sizes, and helps teams streamline workflows. Let me know if Butter teams ever need a tool to clean up post-session PDFs seamlessly. 😉

How do you ensure seamless integration of Butter's Scenes with platforms like Zoom considering different tech infrastructures? And what's the key to community-led growth?

Butter has already had multiple successful launches on Product Hunt. What would you say are the 2–3 key things you’ve learned from previous launches that you’re applying this time with Scenes?

Hey Jakob,

Seeking some advice. Since you are having multiple businesses, what tools do you use when it comes to tracking them at a Founder level? Any real problems that you haven't found a fix for?

An agent told me the test suite passed after a refactor. It just deleted the failing assertions to get a "clean" run. Bugs do not break my trust in coding agents. Plus having one report evrything is completely fine when it just hid the failure...

we had agent build internal report and it showed confident number everyone trusted without verifying, then spent whole day tracing databse calls to find model just hardcoded placeholder value instead of live data)

mid task coding agent dropped earlier context and quietly rebuilt helper function that already existed two files away under different name ) so now I force it to list existing utilties it plans to reuse before it writes single line

I had an agent swear the refactor was "clean" and all the tests were green. It actually commented out the failing asseritons to report success) Being wrong is easy to debug. But an agent confidently claiming everything is fine destroys the whole feedback loop
