New version 5 with major new features
Hi everyone
I’m the maker of Altimeter, an app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch that shows your exact altitude and location via GPS. I’ve been working on it since 2015, and the latest version is the biggest update in a while. Here’s what’s new:
Pin groups. You can now sort your pins into groups, so your summits, parking spots and favourite viewpoints no longer end up in one long list.
Radar, 2D and 3D. The radar shows all your pins around you. Zoom in or out, filter by group, and tap a pin for details or to set it as your navigation target.
Augmented navigation. Altimeter guides you to a pin in an augmented view, which makes it much easier to find the exact spot.
Better sharing. Share your current location or your pins with friends. They can open them as a web view, or import them straight into their own Altimeter app.
Edit and sort pins. Change the name, symbol, color and exact position of a pin at any time, and sort your pins by name, distance or date.
A fresh design. The whole app got a cleaner look, in light and dark mode.
What hasn’t changed: Altimeter is free, has no ads and no trackers, and collects no data.
I’d love to hear what you think. Which feature would you use most, and what’s still missing for your hikes or trips?
