I m the maker of Altimeter, an app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch that shows your exact altitude and location via GPS. I ve been working on it since 2015, and the latest version is the biggest update in a while. Here s what s new:

Pin groups. You can now sort your pins into groups, so your summits, parking spots and favourite viewpoints no longer end up in one long list.

Radar, 2D and 3D. The radar shows all your pins around you. Zoom in or out, filter by group, and tap a pin for details or to set it as your navigation target.

This update focuses on waypoints:

• drop a pin at your current location, give it a name, set an icon and a color

• drop a pin on an interactive map (requires internet connection)

• drop a pin by manually entering coordinate and elevation

• edit your pins at any time

• navigation to a pin: choose from a sortable list
