Why does sharing a file still require uploading it to someone else's cloud?

I kept running into the same workflow: open an S3/R2 dashboard, upload a file, find the public URL, copy it, then finally share it.

So I built Aktar - a native macOS menu bar app that uploads files directly to your own S3-compatible storage and copies the shareable link instantly.

No Aktar account, no intermediary server, and the project is open source.

I'm curious: if you use S3, R2, MinIO or similar storage, what would make a tool like this genuinely useful in your daily workflow?
