What job is your cheapest tier actually doing?

Day 5 on AffiSpark.
Useful lesson from this week: your cheapest tier should have a job beyond being cheap.
I’m starting to think about pricing in two directions:
monetization and distribution.
If the lowest tier still works, still gets used, and still keeps the product visible, it can help spread the product while higher tiers sell control.
That feels better than random feature cutting.
Curious how other founders think about it:
What is your cheapest tier actually designed to do?
