The hardest part of building Advizory wasn't getting the characters to talk. It was getting them to stop.
Early on, every character answered every message with a thoughtful paragraph. It felt like a panel interview, not a group chat.
Real group chats are messy: someone replies "lol", someone ignores you, two people start arguing and forget you exist. So we taught the cast a few things:
Not everyone has to answer. Sometimes silence is the right move.
We launch Advizory on Product Hunt on Oct 8. Quick backstory: the most fun thing on anyone's phone is a group chat. So we asked what happens when the group is Steven Jobsian, a 19th-century scientist, and someone who should absolutely not be giving advice.
The part we're proudest of: they don't just answer you, they talk to each other. They agree, roast each other, go quiet. Ask something serious and they get serious. Ask about pineapple on pizza and it's chaos.
Free on iOS, Android and advizory.app.
One question while we wait: what's the first thing you'd throw at a cast like that?
Pick a cast of real-inspired, historical, fictional and unhinged characters, then hang out in a group chat. They talk to you and to each other. Ask something serious and they get serious. Ask about pineapple on pizza and they riff.
