Notion just opened the hood
Notion popped the hood
gm legends, happy Thursday.
The Pitch by Deel is in Dubai today — the final city stop before the Global Finale where 10 founders compete for $1M, vote for your favorites on the leaderboard now. Also: Ivan Zhao just turned Notion from a tool into a developer platform; Toloka's Olga Megorskaya started as a data labeler and is now betting human expertise is the missing piece in every AI stack; and Vercel Day is tomorrow.
Notion is now a developer platform

Notion Developer Platform lets developers write and run custom code directly inside Notion — Ivan Zhao's move to open Notion's block and database structure to external developers and agents for the first time. P.S. The footer has a surprise if you hit the space key. H/T to Zac Zuo for the spot.
🔥 Our Take: Notion's block model was built for humans who like organizing things. It turns out that typed, queryable, relational blocks are also exactly what AI agents need — not a wall of text, but structured data with clear relationships. Ivan Zhao didn't design Notion for agents, but 11 years of that architecture decision means the surface area is already there. The developer platform is how he cashes in on it.
The Pitch has landed in Dubai

The Pitch by Deel is in Dubai today — the final regional stop before the Global Finale on May 18–19, where the top 10 founders across all cities compete for $1M. Regional winners take home a $50,000 SAFE.

If your AI product has an onboarding step that says "tell us about your business" — your users are lying to you. Not maliciously. They just write whatever sounds good in the moment, skip half the fields, and click next.
Brandfetch's Brand Context API gives you structured brand data for 50M+ brands in a single call: voice, mission, positioning, audience, competitors, all of it. Pre-fill your onboarding before the user types a word.
Ground your AI features so they stop hallucinating about the brands your LLM barely knows. It's the scraping pipeline most teams never get around to building, already built. 100 free calls, no credit card.
The humans still in the stack

Tendem is from Toloka — built by Olga Megorskaya, who started as a data labeler at Yandex in 2014, watched firsthand how much human judgment AI training actually required, and spent the next decade building Toloka into a network of 200K+ verified experts across 50+ domains — and it pairs AI agents with those human experts for work where getting it wrong matters.
🔥 Our Take: Every agent demo shows it working perfectly. Production is where it meets domains it wasn't trained for, ambiguous instructions, and edge cases that require judgment. Toloka's thesis — that the answer is a human expert on call, not a better model — is a direct counter to the full-automation narrative, and Olga has 12 years of evidence behind it. This isn't a pivot. It's a company that has been right about human-in-the-loop longer than most AI companies have existed.
