When you're learning a new app, do you prefer to follow a guide or explore on your own?

I was planning on onboarding people to our private beta one at a time over a 15 minute phone call until we suddenly had hundreds of people sign up for the beta and now I don't know which direction to choose. Do you prefer to be onboarded: 1. Using automated step-by-step guide 2. Getting on a 15 minute call to do a walkthrough 3. Explore on your own 4. Explore on your own given a few example outcomes (ex: projects pre-filled with tasks)
