Our was and wasn't at the same time. While we ranked #8 of the day we still managed to get a few hundred signups on our first launch day from Product Hunt!

Behind in the top 10 on the first launch is quite good result. You can relaunch after 6 months and everybody who upvoted your first launch will be notify about it, which increate you chances to make it to the 5.
Nico Spijker
@fabian_maume We got #3 the second time around. We were able to leverage learnings from the first launch and were better connected to the community. :)

@nicolaas_spijker What were your most important learnings?
Nico Spijker
@jefffajans Don't forget about the community. I think it's common to launch and disappear for 6 months until a relaunch happens. However, it's a bustling space with entrepreneurs and creators, and sticking around helps with expanding your network and learn something new on the daily.

I guess it totally depends on what 'success' is for you. Our first time out we were really dedicated to achieving product of the day and that was the goal. Our subsequent launch was focused on engagement and building a waiting list of targeted users. It was less about the votes... both were successful, but the second one landed nowhere near a top spot.
Nico Spijker
@brenna_donoghue Fair enough! Such a variety of use cases and definitions of success for Product Hunt tbh. What will be the goal of your upcoming launch? (eyeing the "launching soon" there) 👀
Brenna Donoghue
@nicolaas_spijker Hahahaha... I'm so subtle, right?! This time around, we want to connect with new users (or perhaps people who used Morgen before but haven't seen what we're doing now) who are willing to share their feedback and ideally, work with us to design custom workflows for their teams. It's a big product leap for us!

@brenna_donoghue what did the site volume look like post launch (Did the team see a huge spike of visibility?)
Brenna Donoghue
@nicolaas_spijker thanks! I feel 100% not ready on a PH-side, but the product is ready, so nearly go time!

@dzaitzow This was really interesting for us. We saw a big spike the day or and it stayed high for the week. But what I thought was very cool was that it was a halo effect to be sure. Other people started sharing us more and so even once the launch slowed down, we saw a new baseline of traffic that sat steadily about 200+ more daily views than before the launch. So the long tail was far greater than we expected.

My first launch brought me Product of the Day with ASObot. 367 followers and a bunch of new users So I think it doesn't matter first or tenth launch. Only product matters. I wish Good Luck to all makers!
Nico Spijker
@maverick91 Oh wow, congrats on product of the day! Are you planning on relaunching in the future?
Daniel Zaitzow
@maverick91 How many new users? and were they paid users?
Anthony Latona
I got about 100 votes and #13 for the day with my first launch which I think was pretty good! Got a bunch of followers and made some great connections & friends on LinkedIn. I learned a ton from that launch though so going forward, I can be more prepared to get in the top 5 :)
Jeff Fajans
@anthony_latona What did you learn that was most useful?
Anthony Latona
@jefffajans Top 3: 1. The first couple hours of the launch are crucial. It seems very hard to catch up if you're not already at or near the top of the list by 4am Pacific time. 2. Support each other. Support other creators and makers and they will have your back :) 3. You'll probably not make much revenue so don't expect that or bein disappointed. PH is more about awareness and initialization than making big bucks. Use it as a springboard and not a major revenue driver.

Not sure yet - just launched today!

We ranked#13 and get a few followers on the first launch day for Product Hunt, and then several days later, the users data get declines rapidly...😭 Is there any suggestions for it?
Nico Spijker
@tommy_li2 Natural flow of things, usually you get a spike in traffic the first day which then slowly decreases. Having next steps post-launch (new growth activities and channels) and nurturing that "halo effect" like @brenna_donoghue mentions can help keep traffic steady!
AmazingSylvia
Not really, because ProductHunt launch is a teamwork thing. But in my last team it looks like I am the only one who cares.
Nico Spijker
@sylvia_sheng It's definitely harder when working with a smaller team or taking the whole task by yourself. Loads of people to meet on Product Hunt though who are working towards the same goal. For future launches it could help to connect with people maybe launching in similar dates and see if you can join forces in some way?
AmazingSylvia
@nicolaas_spijker Yes, actually the company is not small, it have like over 300 employees. However, they are get used to the old way they earn money by letting users buy membership. So they did not think highly of ProductHunt.
