How do you decide which side projects to pursue, and which to let go of? πŸ€”

Curious to know how others decide to phase out a side project

If it's a potential additional source of income, I'll give it a few months. If it's going to teach me a new skill, I'll do it for a few weeks after hours until I gain an intermediate understanding. If it doesn't pay, teach, or make me laugh--it's out pretty quick.

I usually try and build an email list or community, and work on ones which gather the most momentum. Some have had a long delay, such as articles starting to convert for keywords, which provides motivation to work on it again. Sometimes after whipping up a landing page, I might decide it’s not such a good idea - which is a quicker way of moving on than thinking about it for weeks.

I am yet to crack this one. Here for inspiration. :)
First things first: what am I optimizing for? Cash? Curiosity? Learning for current role?

Here are some of the steps I usually do 1. Identify a problem that you personally face or encounter. 2. Research the problem thoroughly and brainstorm potential solutions. 3. Iterate quickly and create a MVP to test the solution. 4. Get feedback from users and make any necessary improvements. 5. Decide whether to continue or stop the project based on the feedback received. 6. If continuing, iterate quickly again and repeat the feedback loop. Hope that helps!
