Do you think that Threads is only a fad?

If the can get to critical mass. Its not. Also Twitter first lost the media, then the lefties left, then the techies, now even the right wingers are leaving as no one wants to be the last person to turn of the lights π

Yes, and no. Since they still onboarding people, I think they are just playing with their algorithm so that people can find new posts. Also, there is not much incentive to move from twitter to a thread for people who already have a huge following in Twitter. Only time will tell ig

@bgyankarki My opinion is that it is hyped the same way as Bluesky but there are more than 2 billion people involved in this promo (existing user base of Meta). We will see.
@bgyankarki @busmark_w_nika I also think it depends on how much Meta wants to invest in advertising and marketing Threads within Instagram/Facebook as well as outside of it. Their marketing investment will dictate if users will view the app just as a fad or a real Twitter alternative.

I think it's worse than what Google+ was.
I was on it today and instead of seeing posts mostly from my followers, I saw what I perceive as spam.
You don't get me Threads...
Launching soon!
Honestly, I don't see it giving me extra value other than taking up extra space in my phone so, yes.

@uma_venugopal an additional social media platform to have to think about π€¦ββοΈ
@uma_venugopal @psd Early on in for small teams I preach focus including where you invest your marketing efforts, but when it comes to all these platforms this is the first time I question if that is possible
@uma_venugopal Hopefully you can see the value of what we just launched with Careering. The Marketplace for Everyday Professionals to supplement their Salary today for sign-ups. Check it out at TheCareering.com

If tumblr and twitter had a baby, the result would be Threads. My TL is full of random influencers and celebs I usually don't want to see. If they don't fix their algorithm that cares about the quality of content that a user expects to see then they'll only be left with the bots of Instagram.

Looks like.
Twitter- 450 million Monthly Active Users
Instagram- 2.35 BILLION Monthly Active Users.
If Meta manages to get even 50% of their Instagram users to actively use Threads, it would still be 2X that of Twitter!

I think Threads is here to last. Yes, it's missing many features, but this is an MVP, and they're making tweaks as they go, especially as they listen to our requests and concerns. Personally, I love it. I'm making a lot of connections and having a great time there.

@elenny_frometa1 I am not there as often as on Instagram or even Facebook. I hope that this will not be another Clubhouse.
@elenny_frometa1 I do as well. Excited to launch our Marketplace on it as well on July 17th. It will be interesting down the line to hear the success stories business have leveraging Thread for growth

@elenny_frometa1 @divine_rivers1 They (Mosseri and Zuck) are still promoting it. I'm afraid the Meta is stagnating. What about the Metaverse they wanted to go full-on. After all, they fired 10,000 employees to reduce costs. And now the "survivors" pay most of their attention to flagship products (FB, IG) and Threads. So there will be nothing from Metaverse? π€π
@elenny_frometa1 @busmark_w_nika Good point. Part of the problem is when you scale and mature you somewhat lose your ability to innovate and push out good products as you did early on. I wonder if this is the case with Meta. Facebook was ultra-successful and everything they released early on felt really innovative. However, as they are now a full-scaled corporation, wondering if their innovation is still around to the same extent it was when they were in the early days.
yeah i think it will die down since its not a great app. Its missing a lot of features that twitter has
threads is a major threat to twitter

@noah_davis6 But there is also Bluesky. It was also a big thing but now I cannot hear anything about that.
I think it depends on the execution. The suggestion algorithm seems absent; I feel limited to my country's celebrity life, which is not of my interest.
