Built a goal tracking app. Got the idea from a popular blogger who did yearly goal tracking with spreadsheets — her New Year article gets thousands of shares every December. I thought: make it an app, make it easier, people will come. They didn't. I was betting on March — when people realize their January resolutions failed and look for a better tool. But here's what I missed: if your goals...

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Valentina, the maker of AimYear. I built this app out of personal frustration. Every year I'd write a huge list of goals — get fit, save money, call friends more, learn something new, be happier. By March, I couldn't even remember what was on the list. The problem wasn't motivation. It was too many goals and zero visibility into progress. So I built AimYear around three...

I like the idea, but yet another social network? I know it is impossible to copy an existing one and just apply another ranking system to it. But it would be so much more interesting

And how long does it usually take to see real results from commenting and interacting? Let's say I commit to showing up every day — engaging in discussions, supporting launches, talking with people in comments. How long before it starts translating into followers and attention for my own product? A month? Three months? Curious about your experience.

Love this thread. My big Q1 goal is proving a hypothesis with https://aimyear.com — that people stick with goals longer when they're anchored to real milestones with dates, not daily streaks. Personally, I'm testing my own system: 3 life areas, one clear target each, weekly check-ins on Sunday. No daily guilt tracking. If it works for me, it works for users. Biggest challenge: the temptation to...

Claude does my tasks quite fast now. If in November it could take up to 30 minutes, similar task now requires 3-5. During this time if I will switch to another project, I will loose focus, so I just could work on backend/frontend/marketing of the same project. Other tasks which can be executed in parallel can be something not related to my programming tasks at all, for example, removing...

Seems like Mnexum is a good tool for indie developers who are trying to adopt their vibecoded apps to using AI without additional efforts. But the first question is: could I use it directly from my mobile app and store my API key for Claude or OpenAI in this platform or should I build my own backend and authorization system and then use it instead of handling my own database?

What motivates you more: tracking yourself or accountability from others?
I've been thinking a lot about how people actually stick to their goals. There seem to be two camps: Self-tracking — You check in with yourself daily. You see your own progress, your streaks, your patterns. The motivation comes from within. You're accountable to yourself. External accountability — Someone else checks in on you. A coach, a friend, a team. The motivation comes from not wanting to...
