Very useful info here. Here's what you can do from my own experience - 1. Separate out building and marketing. They are not the same thing and need independent focus 2. If you are on $0 marketing budget then only way is to build an audience or you and your product. Try Twitter #buildinpublic. Follow other builders and engage with them 3. If you do not have an existing audience related to the product you are building, then validation can be difficult. Blogging about related topics, product benefits and getting organic traffic is the way to go when you have $0 marketing budget. But it' slow and the ride is bumpy. Change your place, move around. If you usually work from your room, shift to the lobby, sit in the balcony or the living room instead. Make a working trip to another city. Sometimes that can open new thought channels.

@ryangilbert Last Sunday, I read serial entrepreneur Andrew Gazdecki's - Getting Acquired How I built and sold my SaaS startup. He is the founder of Microacquire. The book documents the ups and downs of building his first startup really well. This includes a tiff with Apple on the way!
